I have seen where modelers use a DG583s Digitrax 5 amp decoder for the motors and somehow piggyback an HO decoder for the sound , is that a myth or possible , thanks

not sure on that decoder but some of digitrax decoders will piggyback with there sound bug that mite be one of them

Sorry, that isn't true. You can piggy back HO decoders. Depending on the AMP draw of the engine you can even use an HO sound decoder as I have shown in the video below. That's not HO sized sound. There are also higher AMP versions of the Tsunami2, ESU LokSound, QSI Titan, and soon the TCS WowSound. So you really don't need to piggyback anymore.

Jonathan, the QSI Titan Magnum looks like it would work (6-10 amps) for most O scale operations, but it concerns me that QSI emphatically states they do not sell or support any O scale products. I like the sound of Tsunami, but I don't see anything over 2 amps... seems a little "light" to me.
Hi the ESU Loksound XL V4.0 produces 4amps and has 8 sound channels.
