Space for track

Greeting again all,

Unlike the last layout post. This layout I have every intention of building. This is a Southwestern "Standard & Narrow Gauge" design.

But as the title suggests I am curious/concerned about running stuff on the o-54 curves that I have planned. I plan on building this layout in a corner up against the wall.

 Don't want stuff to run into or rub against the wall. How much space should I give to the track along the track so it doesn't hit the wall?

The largest stuff I think I would be wanting to run would be my SP GS-4 with a few MTH Premier coaches.

The current plan is to make the table 56" x 96"

I would leave at least three inches from the center rail to the wall and also to the front edge of the table. This would require a table width of 60 inches if you use Atlas O-54 curved track with 54-inch diameter at the center rail. It would also give you some room to move the entire track a bit closer to the front edge of the table if you decide to increase the distance from the center rail to the wall to slightly more than three inches. I have a 60-inch by 120-inch table with Atlas O-54 curves. How do you plan to access the track and layout near the wall? Will the layout be movable, have access hatches, or do you intend to climb onto the table? You might also consider leaving a 12-inch space between the rear edge of the table and the wall to simplify layout construction and servicing. Your track plan shows O-54 and narrow gauge loops - apparently on two levels - correct?

Yes that is correct. This would be the "phase 2" phase. Phase 1 is similar in build but the On30 (Narrow Gauge) would be on the bottom. This phase would be more for testing and figuring out wiring. Phase 2 would be more building skills.
