Maybe Vision passenger cars could again include detailed interiors so we can bring that detail back to the level it was at with the old 18" cars.

Of course, Vision pricing will apply, so expect it to cost significantly more than the current 21" price point to get these features back.

I guess we are lucky the 21" cars don't just come with silhouettes.

As delivered, it's quite noticeable that Lionel's new 21" cars have no passengers in them.  I'm not sure Lionel EVER delivered passenger cars with no riders, when they transitioned from window silhouettes to detailed interiors.  MTH did back in the early 2000's, but then eventually added about 10 passengers per car.  ANYTHING is better then ZERO passengers in cars that are otherwise billed with "detailed interiors".  It's no doubt a step backwards, and an example of more corner-cutting  on the production floor.

But the party line will undoubtedly be... True there are no passengers.  But these new cars have such easy access to the interiors (only 4 screws and voilla!!!), consumers can add any number of seated passengers to their heart's content.

I'm just waiting for someone to post (after they receive the set)... "Hey, my grandson/granddaughter was so excited to see my new passenger car train.  But upon closer inspection, they said, 'Grandpa, why is nobody riding that train?'".    Count on it!

With the 21' passenger cars. We had one person from Lionel Tell us they were pre-production, and another Lionel Rep tell us that they we the production finals.

They need to get there act together and get on the same page.

I have an Empire State set on order with all the add on cars. Was not really happy with how they looked at York. I fell as if I should start looking for the old K-line 21" cars. I can't believe that we have to by the people for the 21" cars separately. How much extra will that cost me.

Well, Golden Gate Depot give you 6 passengers in every car. GGD sells people packs of 36 people for $25. At a minimum it will cost me an extra $100 to stock my Lionel passenger cars.

I own a very nice 5-stripe JLC, which shall continue to serve my needs superbly. I could contemplate an "Old Rivets", say with the Bicentennial scheme as something different from before ... as long as the pricing is not goofy. The GG1 is an evergreen and Lionel will likely make/import them 'till the end of time. But, my problem is two-fold.

First, Lionel keeps reissuing new versions of trains I purchased in the middle of the last decade. These trusty pieces in my roster are usually excellent in their own right and they are paid for. Chatting with very amiable Matt in Orange Hall, I pointed to the 'new' Empire State Express and said "Very beautiful train. I have one almost like it in my basement with beautiful 18" (discontinued) aluminum cars, which I personally happen to prefer". And, so on.

Second, I envision the Vision Line as a reason, an opportunity for Lionel to do something that is 'Oh, Wow!' An offering that is truly special, new, and innovative. As desirable as a reissue of the JLC scale GG1s might be, it does not quite attain the lofty status expected of the VL, IMO.
