Hey quick question are the track pins in older standard gauge track the same as the ones in o gauge track? I was told they were but the ones I bought seem lose in the track

Broadly speaking, the STD pins and O gauge pins (and the rail itself) are the same. Naturally, variations in pin design as well as pin and rail tolerances have occurred over the past 120 or so years. As with all tubular track, you may need to tighten/crimp the track ends with a track plier or similar tool and/or find the best pieces with the best pins for optimal results. SEE HERE for a bit more

Lionel used the same part number, OC-18, for both. The fibre pins for both are 011-11.
