I have a few of these Basset Lowke, Hornsby, and Bing trains and I must say they are GREAT Looking, well constructed trains.

I sure can post a picture!  This is one from the person I bought it from, as it's now on the way to me!

The name of the locomotive is the "Duke of York", which now has me thinking of the song we sang in Boy Scouts: "The grand old Duke of York...he had ten thousand men..."

Terrific locomotive! I wonder if the "1927" on the tender also indicates the year of manufacture.

That's my understanding that it means the year of production, mind is a 1931 in red

Thank you!  I'll have to also post pics of my Hornby clockwork set sometime!  I do love the European outline tinplate as well.  The colorful nature and overall design of those trains really works well in tinplate.

Beyond that, they mix in nicely with my Marx and Flyer tinplate!
