Since we moved into a new house in March of 2015 I had to dismantle my old layout. O31 curves and O22 switches, you get the idea.  I am a postwar collector and operator, so I have lots of equipment with sliding shoes.  I have been watching and searching a lot of posts to try to gain some knowledge of what will and what won't work with postwar.

I want to have minimum O72 track and I want to use Gargraves flex track.  I called Gargraves and Ross both.  They were both very friendly and informative and both gave me about the same information.  It's really nice to be able to get in touch with the companies that serve our hobby.  They both seam like terrific companies to deal with.  I just want to be complimentary to both Ross and Gargraves because they have earned it in MHO.

I have not made a decision as to what kind of switches I will use as I am still in the benchwork phase.  But after talking to them I wish I could use both.

If you are a Lionel loyalist and intend to adopt one of the variants of that company's TMCC-Legacy technology for your new layout, consider Lionel Fastrack. Those track products are available in many curvatures (including O72 and larger radii) and specialty track sections. Command Control is now available (built-in) to the FastTrack switches.  Ultra cool.

However, the advice from Woody is spot on. Gargraves track and Ross switches are favored by many "high rail" modelers.
