Cant seem to find a pic right now but, you can get some info using search on this site. If the plunger is working it should be moving the pendulum back and fourth to change the contacts for direction control. Sometimes the contacts need cleaning or adjusting. Contacts can be 5 or 7 wire. There is also a lockout on the opposite end. I find most of the time it's just a wire with cracked insulation. Usually they can be made to to work most of the time.

Jeff Kane has them. So I should figure it out. Going to look at the Greenberg. Have to see what books I have of him.

If the book came out a year or so. Don't have it.
