Getting ready to install the battery in my Atlas SDP35 with TMCC.  You need to remove the body on this engine to install the battery, which the screws are located on the underside of the engine.  This is the first time the battery has been changed, at least I was told when I bought the engine that it was new.  Looks like someone at the factory got a little over whelmed and stripped two of the heads as I am getting no where with them.  Any suggestions?  The other screws came out fine.

Thanks...

IS there a different Philips head drive that will get a bite.  If not, can you get needle nose vice grip pliers on the head.  If so that is one way to get it out.

Or cut a slot using dremel and take out with straight blade.

Drilling can be problematic because it can heat excessively and fuse threads to the post, but that is one way to get the head off.  G

That's what I was going to recommend.

There are ways to get it out, may take a combination of methods.

Before you give up and bring in the heavy equipment, get a wide rubber band (wider then the head of the screw) put it on the screw head then try using your phillips screw driver. occasionally this will allow just enough pressure for the phillips to loosen a screw that has a stripped head.

Good luck hope this work for you.
