These are Lionel 1121 switches. The arm is gravity operated and just locks the swing rail open or closed. The solenoid moves a slide with bevels(black assembly with blinders for lights) to raise the bar up and allow the swivel rail to complete its movement, where it drops back down and latches the plate(usually silver) connected to the swivel rail again in the opposite direction.
The center binding post is ground. The other two are for out/through, the switches are track powered.
.... and do not come with the built-in anti-derailing feature. Also these are O27 in profile and curve diameter. As I recall some larger engines will not clear the switch housing when running on the curved branch.
