My layout will feature 29 switches that are controlled by the Legacy system. It's hard to know which one is which number. I'd like to number the switches but I want it to be somewhat realistic, I don't want to just tape a number to the switch or something. I was thinking maybe silver painted toothpicks with the numbers printed on green paper and then attached to the top of the toothpick to make a small sign sticking up. I'm not sure if there is any such product already available to buy pre made signs with numbers. Any suggestions?

There are boxes of railroad signs that you could just put a number on and place it near the switch. or even a small wooden post with a number. Railroads had their own markings.

Nothing wrong with a little blue tape to get you started. Makes it easier to set routes or just change one.

The toothpick idea is good. Use white with black markings.

Are you going to fire them from an SC-2, an ASC or are they command?

With a symbolic schematic, you don't really need all of track in between, just the switches.

LCS Wifi and an iPad will do that for you and show the switch position by red or green.

I've managed to pick up an iPad so far but haven't had much luck finding the LCS Wifi yet.

The decals I just made myself.

Thank you for the link! I'll need to order a bunch of these. This will also force me to get on the decal bandwagon.

As for numbering, I have two mainlines. Outer, odd numbers, inner even numbers with N/S/E/W prefix to indicate orientation. For multiple switches such as double-slips and crossovers, I use a suffix of a/b/c/d. Until I saw these switch stands, my plan was to use match sticks and make small cardboard signs.
