The 140 L Tunnel; (90 degrees). I am assuming because of it's age that it was meant for 42 inch curves?

Love that tunnel. Only 42's were available back then, so yes.
Yes, 42 curves only. It's a big tunnel, but not big enough for any of the wider curves. It's a little hard to tell from this photo taken a few years ago, but it takes two 42 curve sections.

David, Hard to tell, but do you have 2 parallel tracks running through the 140L? If not, how much clearance do you need for the other track to fit in the curve. IN other words; What did ya do there?
Sorry, that's not a very good photo. Here's a snapshot of that corner of the plan. Two 42 curves pretty much go portal to portal of the tunnel. Not exactly, but just about. Then 1 straight section (14") to SW31. There is definitely only room for one standard gauge track through the 140.

These tunnels are beautiful. I bought an Olsens tunnel last year forgot the number but it is a little longer.
Are these tunnels originals?

The 140L and 120 above are original Lionel Standard Gauge tunnels, from the 20's and 30's.

thank you!
WOOF! How large is this room?? What a fantastic layout.
I would love just to have the 140l tunnel on my small layout.
So would I!! I saved lots of pics, perhaps I and my artist daughter can create me one. The old chicken wire with brown paper method?
The Tunnels are Sheet brass or tin with tinplate portals and buildings.
No interior support needed for the metal skin.
They are hand painted so no two are alike.
They are usually mounted on a wood fiberboard base.
They also have lights inside. I have seen one, that I believe was modified, to have openings in the metal to light the mountain chalets or perhaps it was all modified.
The chalets are cool.
