The Keystone Truck and Tractor Museum is adjacent to Interstate 95 between Richmond and Petersburg VA in Colonial Heights VA.  It is a 70,000 foot environmentally controlled display of 350 trucks, cars, tractors, mopeds, and motorcycles from the 1910's though the early 1960's.  Everything is restored and in pristine condition.  Amazing to see how the train, auto and tractor designs of the 1930's mirrored each other.  Place even has a restaurant similar to the old railcar diners that popped up all across America in the 1950's.  If you ever are traveling I-95, have time, and need a break from the madness of the interstate, take a stop and look at this place.  It is really unique.

Thank you to all for your kind words......it is truly a team effort!

Peter, how about some particulars:  how many of you traveled and set-up; how many work each day and for how many hours; how far were your layouts transported; do you commute to the show each day or stay locally?

I ask because what you guys/gals are doing at this show takes a considerable commitment from many people.

The Keystone Ttactor Museum is along I-95 maybe a mile and a half north of the Appomattox....it is about 35 miles from the Westcheaster Commons Shopping Center.

We commute.

At set up we had at least 15 people. Tom towedthe 24 ft trailer down there. He backed the truck into the Museum and we 3 dollies, we took the stuff of the trailer in relays. Set up took about 5 hours with another 2 hours the next day for final touches (like making sure the electronics work)

Since it is a hike, we asked people to do 8 hr shifts. If you want to do half days, we asked people to pair themselves.....we need 4 people minimum:

two to run the 21x43

one to run the 6x15

one to be on break and/or available to troubleshoot

So far, we never have had less than 6 there. We have another weekend there. I am not scheduled, but I will be there Saturday part of the day, for support (I don't expect to run trains since I didn't officially commit). However, extra hands are always needed, and people may need to relieved.

That kid is a professional with the stool!  Great Job guys!  This is what it's all about!

That kid IS a professional, Marty!

Peter, When I worked for Vepco in Richmond (Grayland Ave.) office, I boarded at a home on Harrowgate Road between Chester and Rt 1, above Colonial Heights.  This was 1976-77.  Where is this museum in relation to that intersection?  I know little looks the same 45 years since.

Hello Everyone,

Peter is an amazing ambassador for our club, and the entire hobby. But you guys already knew that.    It is great to be in a group with such a wonderful group of men - and young kids!

Hi Mark,

I lived in the same area as you for 26 years:  Just off Harrowgate Road in the Stoney Glen subdivision (that wasn't there when you were here).  Route 10 is exit 61 off I95.  The Tractor Museum is exits 54 and 51 (I believe).

Also, as mentioned above, the Tractor Museum is truly amazing and unique.  I've never seen such a top notch facility and staff with so many completely restored items.  And for those that may make the trip to visit it:  They have a diner inside and the food is very good.  https://keystonetractorworks.com/

@Putnam Division, thank you for the information. It only enhances RC3R's astonishing level of superb effort to share the hobby considering this show is in addition to your club's travel and set-up at York and the multi-week set-up at The Great Big Greenhouse between Thanksgiving and the New Year. Well done!!!

Carl, yours and everyone's kind words are greatly appreciated!

Peter
