The Start 17 x 10

So here is the RR Track print out for the first stage, which is level 1. Part of this will be covered (accessible through the bottom though) When level 2 comes around.

I have 2 mainline loops, then a 3rd loop which can function on its own, doubles as a reversing figure 8, and has access to what will be the train station sidings. The top portion shown is what will allow access from level 1 to level 2. Level 2 when have a reversing section and 2 mainlines. I have a rough idea but nothing shown here. The gray areas are for my pop through's for access.

Now for the beginning construction photos. Second with my six year old worn out from helping.

In the beginning there was wood...

So far so good.

I would ask if you plan on having a backdrop.

Adding it later is a PAIN.

How big is your layout going to be? I'm interested in watching this thread since it'll be one of the first start-to-finish that I'll see since I've joined.

I will have something in the background, but haven't decided what. It will be added after track work, but before scenery. I have done it both ways in HO and prefer this approach to before.

My layout is 10 x 17 in a 19 x 11.5 room.

Here are some more pictures. I have 3 more sections to add, then it's time to check all the levels. I have been leveling as going as to be close, but will make sure it all jives when put together. Then I will add some plywood and track.
