WHILE IN THE PLANNING STAGE, I'M BEGINNING TO LAYOUT MY TRACK WITH RR TRACK. I CURRENTLY HAVE A LIONEL ZW-L, A LIONEL ZW PLUS A LIONEL KW AND TWO EXTRA STARTUP SET TRANSFORMERS.  I PLAN ON RUNNING LEGACY AND CONVENTIONAL TRAINS SIMULTANEOUSLY.  I BELIEVE I'LL NEED A AIU FOR SCENERY LIGHTING AND FIXTURES, YET I'M NOT SURE IF I'LL NEED AN ADDITIONAL TIU FOR TRACK WIRING. WILL A TIU BE NECESSARY AND HOW IS IT WIRED? WHAT ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIAL CAN I GET IN ASSISTING IN WIRING?  AS USUAL I DEEPLY APPRECIATE ANY INFO GIVEN.  THANKS ONCE AGAIN

If you have the MTH AIU, you need a TIU to connect it to.  You can connect it to the same one that runs the track, but you need at least one.

The AIU simply plugs into the TIU port labeled AIU INPUT with the cord that comes with the AIU, that supplies power and control to the AIU.

Of course, if you're only running Legacy/TMCC, you can use the Lionel equivalent of the AIU, the ASC or the SC2 to control that stuff.
