Hi all- First time back on the forum in many months.  Frankly my layout had/has some issues and the frustration led to a train break.

I have a 5x9 layout with a 2 main line track plan I really like.  It utilizes original 1950s Lionel track and switches.  Unfortunately the track is causing me lots of issues.  Particularly at the switches I'm getting lots of sparking and derailments.  I tried new (really refurbished) switches (O22), but that doesn't help.  I'm leaning toward a full track swap out and my first thought was Fastrack.  My holiday layout uses Fastrack and I've had no issues.  However, as many here likely know, O-31 Fastrack takes up more space than traditional Lionel O-31.  As such, I can't simply replace track for track and I don't have the room for the bigger Fastrack.

Is there another type of track out there that is a 1 for 1 swap with Lionel O-31 dimensions?

Thanks.

PS- Heading off the inevitable clean your track comments, I've done a deep piece by piece cleaning - including the individual pins.

Since I don't know the specs of LIONEL 031 track, I can't respond with confidence.  Suggestion, if haven't done so already, check the Ross and Gargraves websites for their 031 sectional track specs.  Mating pins are available for both to mate their track to your 022 switches.

Of course, you could also use GG flex track and bend it to your requirements.  And Ross offers a line of "tinplate" switches that include an 031.
