can someone tell me exactly why , what reason there is transition track for Gargraves switches and why is there just transition for the curve not the straight. my first thought is that the switch sits higher than the track itself. thank you

Transition tracks are to get the curve back to parallel with the straight. Nothing to do with how tall the switch is. Different transitions get you different center rail to center rail spacing.
oh got it thanks Darrell. Its basically making a full curve using the curve in the switch combined.
Scotty, the TR35, TR40 and TR45 transition tracks are used with the #11 switches to return the turnout to parallel with 3.5, 4.0 and 4.5 spacing. The TR435, TR440 and TR445 tracks are used with the #4 switches to do the same thing. Using them with other regular or numbered switches doesn't work the same way.
