Hello all

This little tunnel loco took the wrong switch and ended up on the elevated track .   Lionel  # 100 2 7/8" gauge tunnel loco ... generally referred to as the B&O #5 due to it's lettering ...  first introduced in 1903 ..in green. with brass wheels ..  maroon version with cast wheels 1904-1906/7.... add a bit of oil and juice and she springs alive !

Thank you for your kind words . The little tunnel loco ( as I was told) came out of the wood work out on the left coast earlier this year .  It is all original down to the wiring ... unfortunately Lionel was making toys at the time ..not future collects items ...so no metal prep was done ...beyond dusting it off prior to painting .... hence 112 years later  paint flakes  off ... paint needs moisture ( oils) to help it retain is ability to adhere to the metal .... ..

Carey - I should have guessed that you grabbed this loco! Wasn't it just on ebay a week or so ago?
