Upper Level

I am getting started building a upper level over my layout and I would like a recommendation of what thickness of plywood would you use with RealTrax as a base under the track above my layout? I have seen that JD Stucks just finished his upper level and it would be great if someone can tell me what he used. I have yet to watch his video because of the holidays.
