What would I have to do to have  an outer O36 Fastrack oval with two O22 switches using four Lionel's transitional pieces.  Would I add some O track to the switches to match the O36.

I really want to use the O22 switches because I like "old school" feel and action but want the dependability of the Fastrack-even on carpet they don't separate.

I don't want to pay 100.00 a piece for Fasttrack remote switches.

My layout hasn't begun yet.  I have two ovals of Fasttrack and 2 or three fast track activators so this is just in the research stag.

Thanks for your help-Joseph

Keep searching the for sale forum for FasTrack. Some forum sponsors sell new for $80. Search you local craig'slist. if you are patient, you can average about $50-$60 a switch.

The connectors can be removed from the end of a curve and run a 7/64" drill to size the hole for a perfect hole for the O pins.  Then, you can use a FasTrack curve without a transition track. pry the tabs up straight with a screw driver on the bottom a couple of sets, enough to pry up the rails a get the connectors out. The, turn over the track and press on it firmly and flatten the tabs tightly with a flat screw driver. next, ream the hole about a 1/2" in depthe with the drill following the inside of the rail. (see attached pdf, second page)

I believe it's a 45° turn-out, so any curve except O48 will work. O48 will work using s 7.5°+15° for a 22.5° in combinations of the pair.
