Its interesting how fast and hard Washington PCC cars took curves without the need to guide a trolley pole through frogs and crossovers. This would make a perfect 3 rail prototype. These trolleys were powered by an underground conduit. Trolley poles were only used on out lying segments of the system beyond the DC limits.

Speaking of vehicles, notice at 2:23 the early model VW bus coming towards the camera. That's Indiana Avenue, N.W. in front of the old Municipal Center, now the Metropolitan Police HQs.

 

At 2:52 as the car turns, you can see the Pension Building in the background. Built after the Civil War, it was the largest brick structure in the U.S. at the time. Also known as "Meigs Old Red Barn."
