In San Francisco visiting my son and his fiancée.

My son has a WAYMO account. So, we have been driving around in WAYMOs.

Waymo - Self-Driving Cars - Autonomous Vehicles - Ride-Hail

All of the cars are white Jaguars.  Like UBER, but instead, you contact the nearest WAYMO and it finds you and pulls over at an open spot along a nearby road. THEN Using the WAYMO app to open the doors. get in, seat belt and press start on the touch screen, off you go barreling thru traffic at the correct speed, stopping at red lights. moving around objects like other vehicles and pedestrians.

All of the road obstacles are shown on the touch screen.

So I thought I need to equip a few 1/48 cars with automotion-like motors, "mini" radar systems around each car that control the motor and steering and Wi-Fi control connections.

Mmm, well IIRC there are some Faller systems that can pretty much do this, though on a predetermined course (a buried guide wire I believe) but I understand each vehicle is capable of stopping/slowing the overtaking vehicle when it is in danger of overtaking the preceding vehicle.

Of course, this is not an issue for other systems like the Magnorail system, which uses buried magnets on a chain drive to both guide the vehicles and move all of them at the same speed. None of this is a true autonomous system . . . but then again, none of our trains run on wood, coal or diesel/fuel oil either!
