Weak Whistle on Lionel Vision A-Class#1238 - Any Ways to Improve

Hi OGR Members,

I just started up my new N&W A-class #1238. Beautiful engine and tender! BUT, spoiled by my Legacy J-class engine’s whistle, the #1238 whistle is “whimpy” (technical term 🥺). When the engine is a across the layout, 15 or 20 feet away, none of the 5 versions breaks the volume of chuffing or other sound effects.

I saw an earlier BigBoy similar post about “missing baffles”.

- Has anyone opened up their Vision A-class and investigated?
- Has anyone tried improving their Vision BigBoy?
- Has anyone asked Lionel to address these design issues?

As far as the big boys go I can definitely say a baffle makes it bearable vs the extremely weak way it shipped but it’s still far from perfect. I set mine up in a very crude way I definitely do NOT recommend this to anyone, I know a few have wanted to make a 3D baffle and that would be the correct way to do it. There are way more skilled people than me to make that
