I see on ebay a Weaver Ultraline two rail 17 car set for sale. Will 2 rail cars run on three rail track? If not reason? Are they compatible with three rail cars and equipment?

Weaver cars are extremely easy to convert; just replace the wheelsets with three-rail sets and replace one truck on two cars with Weaver three-rail trucks with the integral couplers.
I run my 2 rail cars on friends 3 rail layouts. They will not work on 3-rail tubular track but on Atlas, or MTH your ok.
I've seen 2-rail cars run on Gargraves and Atlas track without much problem (flat top rail is the key), as long as they are properly weighted, and as mentioned above, they are easily converted. I often get Weaver 2-rail cars at bargain prices compared to the same car in 3-rail just because they are 2-rail. If this is a set you want, go for it -- you may not see another, let alone a 3-rail version, any time soon.

Yes on the non tubular track. But you will need at least 042 track for reliable running with 40 ft. cars and body mounted couplers. The wheels can dip down into some turnouts but usually don’t derail. If the cars are 50 footers you may need wider curves. All can be easily converted to 3 rail trucks and couplers but it comes with a price. If you go that route. Lionel has Weaver compatible trucks in their Lion Scale line which features Weaver tooled cars. The Lionel half price sale in the fall is your friend.

No worries as the track will be Flex Trak at the club layout. Thank you for your response.

Thank you for your comment. Not sure I want it, but just curious as to the difference. Just getting into O Guage and trying to figure out the differences etc.

Thank you Harley Rider for your response and experience on 3 rail track. No 3 rail tubular, all flex track.
Thank you everyone for your responses to my question, very helpful.
