It's time for WEEKEND PHOTO FUN!!

Last Saturday I was in Lynchburg, VA for Lynchburg Rail Day.

We ran my son's starter set MTH Railking J. I tend to forget how good these little starter set engines really are.

Its going to be a great weekend!

The Woodward cruise is this weekend, And Sunday the 1225 will be 20 minutes from my house.

Here is one of my doctor evil projects that has worked out so well, I am upgrading my whole fleet. Close coupling Lionel A-A and A-B-B-A  MU' ed units... I was able to do these in 10 minutes a unit and still preserve the electro couplers on corresponding units.

After the conversion I can still negotiate 072 curves with no issues...

Christmas present 1959......thanks Mom and Dad!

You're too too humble my friend. Forgot to point out that it still operates perfectly. In my house, even "favorite" toys eventually got destroyed. You must have been a great kid.

The 9' guy is simply a descendant of the Nephilim!

Correctly re-painted as it should have been

A Baldwin . . . well. now you can pull every car you own with one locomotive.  A nice, grimy, MTH B&O Baldwin AS-616 is perfect on your layout.  I have an SP AS-616 (the only foreign line engine I own) and it is a brute.  It always runs, will pull any amount of cars, and never gets hot.

I make a cross country trip via Amtrak about once a year......another trip soon. This is my favorite photo from all my trips......Raton NM in a freezing rain/snow.

AMCDAVE, there's something about the railroad in winter, for sure.  I share your fondness for that photo, as well as for the experience of being at trailside in freezing weather.  The sound, the early darkness, everything is different from the other seasons.

Thanks 90!!!

Without me giving much description you hit the nail on the head.

A little background.  We were running about 6 hours late. So we hit Raton in the dark. The town was dead quite with little movement by the locals. During the 10 minute stop the only sounds were from the train....compressors, air bleeds, low engine idle.....really set a mood. Few passengers got off as it was in the twenties temp wise......but every time I see the photo I FEEL the mood and I am taken right back.

Thanks for the comments......more photos in link below.

Good choice Tom, this is a diesel I did for a customer. A bit old for my 70's time frame. Seems rare as I could only find 2 color photos of it.
