I have seen many a picture of forum members who have neat layout wiring under the table. Many have mounted needed hardware on a vertical "wall" . What I am wondering is what hardware is needed underneath the table?

Assumptions are 8 x 16  with three loops and a 7 track yard. Reversing loop on two lines. Transformers on separate shelf.

So far I have come up with:

  • TMCC Base
  • DCS Base
  • TIU Interface
  • Two or Three 12 Wire Terminal Blocks

I know I am missing things but I thought I'd throw it out there.

Thanks, Paul

Some things I have under mine are:

  • Plastic two hole straps (different sizes) to route wiring through and hold it up.
  • MTH terminal blocks for DCS star wiring
  • Small power supplies for lighting
  • Relays
  • Power supply and LED strip lights for illumination under the layout
  • Misc terminal strips for combining switches, lights, etc.
  • Zip ties for bundling wires

I'm probably missing a few things, but that's all that comes to mind right now.

I have a transformer cart on wheels that can be rolled under the layout. It has all my track power supplies, DCS system and Legacy system so I can roll it out for access to everything. It's much easier access for DCS and Legacy updates and things like that.
