I’ve been  using Gargraves track for so long that tubular track is almost foreign to me. When I did use tubular track it was usually used track and It went together fairly easy. I’m currently building a layout for my tinplate trains, so I bought a circle of O72 track and I was putting that together. I got most of it together pretty well but there’s still may be an eighth of an inch between each section and the real problem is the last couple of sections when I’m completing the circle. I remember one time someone was offering a vise like device that would pull the tracks together I can’t seem to find anything about it. Teach this old dog some new tricks.

I have a T-Tracker I bought off the forum, it works best on straights. Doesn't work at all on K-Line switches.

Another method is to take a tap hammer and and lightly smack the edge of the rail, while holding the same rail on the second section of track; so if its outer rail, hold the outer rail on the second piece, middle, middle on the second piece, and so on. Then I try to move each rail a small bit, kind of like tightening lug nuts. Works on O72, don't know about O31.
