Well, you probably meant, "what is your most satisfactory train purchase this year," and I guess I should answer a couple Vision locomotives I snagged that were previously issued and that sat unused in collections.  But given you're asking at that time of year when the unicorn (extremely rare) bourbons get released, I'd have to say:  several bottles of Pappy van Winkle (even the 23 year old) and the two bourbons from the Buffalo Trace antique collection that are routinely judged the best American whiskeys - George T. Stagg and William Larue Weller.  And, for my comic book collection, I finally found a copy X-Men 1 in beautiful condition. Peter

Keith,

My best purchase of the year was my Leagacy PRR B6 switcher. It is an amazing engine with great Legacy sounds, smokes like crazy and will crawl around my clubs layout at speed step 1 never stalling or stuttering. I believe it is the ultimate switcher ever produced.

I gotta echo Big John, the Atlas GSC 12-car zephyr set is very sweet and a great price.

Most satisfying, in that I waited SO long to find one in 2-rail, picked up a Sunset Models SF 3751.

Most satisfying, in that I proved to myself that I can solder (LOL) was an ESU decoder with sound that I installed into an Atlas switcher that had been silent and straight DC.

I've acquired some nice stuff this year, but to just pick one item I'd have to go with my Lionel Legacy Milwaukee Road Heavy Mikado. I would have liked some Milwaukee-specific details on the engine, but I'll cut Lionel some slack because it's just a beautiful model. For details and features it's on a par with the Milwaukee S3-class 4-8-4.

I didn't buy much this past year but I would have to say at the top of the list is the Lionel Vision PFE Reefer 3 pack with sound car. These along with a second sound car have been running this weekend at our open house integrated into a 30 car consist. The sound effects as this train creeps around the layout are awesome.

This was a lite year for me.  I only purchased a few things including 3 Christmas themed cars, a RailKing SD70ACE First Responders tribute and a really nice Century Club PRR S2 671.  The Century Club piece may wind up being my best purchase as I am trying to collect all variations of the S2.  But since I haven't had it on the rails yet, the SD70ACE is my pick for now.  The nice thing about the SD70 is the red paint scheme.  I was thinking of getting an MTH Christmas themed engine so I had DCS control, but the paint scheme on this SD70 looks great coupled with Christmas themed cars and I can run it all year around.

Mine was a set of G scale Aristo Craft FA-1, FB-1, FA-1 engines in B&O livery.  I won the auction on eBay and at a great price too.  They came in perfect condition.  They spent their lives, so far, as part of a static display and weren't even used.  Also, they are the newer versions so the bodies sit lower on the trucks.  Very hard to find.  So, I am very pleased.

I bought one each of the Aristo 2-8-0 steam loco and PCC trolley. Yet to run either...may not....but great display models for what I got them for.

I should have included this in my original post.  The Southern E8 in contemporary version as seen and running at the North Carolina Transportation Museum (NCTM) in Spencer.  Thankfully MTH made it with the ditch lights.

Here accompanied by two Lionel Hi-Nose GP30's thanks to Mike Reagan.  The Southern 2501 is on roster at NCTM and the N&W 522 is an occasional visitor.

Well... it would be a toss up between these two vintage "enduro" bikes:

My recently acquired 1972 mfg "DKW" GS125. Made in West Germany...

DKWleftsideSM

Or my more recent acquisition: A 1971 Zundapp (sort of pronounced "ZUNE dopp") GS125, mfg'd in West Germany in 1971...

Either way, both bikes are very rare here in the USA and hard to find for a "vinduro" (VINtage enDURO) bike enthusiast such as myself. Especially so in the very good condition of the above two.
