MTH 44 Tonner.....Greg
MTH SD 40-2 Blue mountain and Northern, runs and looks great. I will run my new Christmas MTH set tomorrow, I hope it will be my next fav. Gonna be a nice Christmas me thinks.
Merry Christmas to all and Happy holidays too.
Well, you probably meant, "what is your most satisfactory train purchase this year," and I guess I should answer a couple Vision locomotives I snagged that were previously issued and that sat unused in collections. But given you're asking at that time of year when the unicorn (extremely rare) bourbons get released, I'd have to say: several bottles of Pappy van Winkle (even the 23 year old) and the two bourbons from the Buffalo Trace antique collection that are routinely judged the best American whiskeys - George T. Stagg and William Larue Weller. And, for my comic book collection, I finally found a copy X-Men 1 in beautiful condition. Peter
Keith,
My best purchase of the year was my Leagacy PRR B6 switcher. It is an amazing engine with great Legacy sounds, smokes like crazy and will crawl around my clubs layout at speed step 1 never stalling or stuttering. I believe it is the ultimate switcher ever produced.

Lionel American Freedom Train GS-4.
That is easy, another "Brother_Love" masterpiece. This time a N&W CF cabin car.
MTH GE 44 Ton ATSF Switcher.

Probably my Lionel like new 1872 General at an insane cheap price. I had been looking for something reasonable but all that were in decent shape were over $100. But I found this one right after I walked in to the Greenberg show. Had to confirm the price on the tag with the dealer.
Millhouse Studios 28" Transfer Table
Lionel American Freedom GS-4 2nd place...
3rd Rail SD9's in Chicago & Northwestern. Man, I love these train engines
hello guys and gals.........
The most satisfactory purchase this year is the Railking NW-2 switcher, just loved the green paint job with gold pin stripes. It was purchased last August.

Atlas BNSF Heritage Hoppers and Atlas Gunderson Maxi-IV Well cars and containers.
1) Atlas GSC CZ 12 Car Set
2) Lionel FEF #838
3) Lionel AFT GS4
4) LN Lionel Legacy Blue Comet for $600
I gotta echo Big John, the Atlas GSC 12-car zephyr set is very sweet and a great price.
Most satisfying, in that I waited SO long to find one in 2-rail, picked up a Sunset Models SF 3751.
Most satisfying, in that I proved to myself that I can solder (LOL) was an ESU decoder with sound that I installed into an Atlas switcher that had been silent and straight DC.
I've acquired some nice stuff this year, but to just pick one item I'd have to go with my Lionel Legacy Milwaukee Road Heavy Mikado. I would have liked some Milwaukee-specific details on the engine, but I'll cut Lionel some slack because it's just a beautiful model. For details and features it's on a par with the Milwaukee S3-class 4-8-4.

Lightly used K-Line scale Mikado from a forum member.
MTH NH Railking RS1. I think it's the best bang for the buck out there.
Lionchief plus Mikado and Pacific
All have been satisfactory this year. The Lionel die cast bridge, the double door scale High cubes, The Weaver TOFC flat cars I found this year. Lots cars for this year. My list could keep going. Truth be told everything I buy is satisfactory ...........Paul
Lionel E&J SD 38.
Ok, I will bite. My most satisficing purchases of this year were:
1. Lionel Legacy 990 Base and Remote. (Best purchase ever!!!)
2. Lionel 6-28567 Union Pacific GP7 with Legacy.
3. Lionel Vision Stock Car.
4. Lionel Vision Union Pacific PFE reefers.
5. Lionel 6-28587 Pennsylvania GP7. (I love Legacy GP7s)
Best purchase? Probably a six pack of Sam Adams. They were cold, tasted good, was exactly what I wanted, I didn't need to keep the packaging, and the bottles and the cardboard box were recycle-able.
Best train purchase? Pair of Lionel Legacy Rock Island E-8's here on OGR. Did not expect the level of detail that arrived.
Train items included a scale Williams GG1 and a lionel Lion-Chief Plus B&O switcher.
I didn't buy much this past year but I would have to say at the top of the list is the Lionel Vision PFE Reefer 3 pack with sound car. These along with a second sound car have been running this weekend at our open house integrated into a 30 car consist. The sound effects as this train creeps around the layout are awesome.
This was a lite year for me. I only purchased a few things including 3 Christmas themed cars, a RailKing SD70ACE First Responders tribute and a really nice Century Club PRR S2 671. The Century Club piece may wind up being my best purchase as I am trying to collect all variations of the S2. But since I haven't had it on the rails yet, the SD70ACE is my pick for now. The nice thing about the SD70 is the red paint scheme. I was thinking of getting an MTH Christmas themed engine so I had DCS control, but the paint scheme on this SD70 looks great coupled with Christmas themed cars and I can run it all year around.

A railking 611 for my son. Great sound and smoke. He really enjoys it which makes it the most satisfying.
Mine was a set of G scale Aristo Craft FA-1, FB-1, FA-1 engines in B&O livery. I won the auction on eBay and at a great price too. They came in perfect condition. They spent their lives, so far, as part of a static display and weren't even used. Also, they are the newer versions so the bodies sit lower on the trucks. Very hard to find. So, I am very pleased.

I bought one each of the Aristo 2-8-0 steam loco and PCC trolley. Yet to run either...may not....but great display models for what I got them for.

I should have included this in my original post. The Southern E8 in contemporary version as seen and running at the North Carolina Transportation Museum (NCTM) in Spencer. Thankfully MTH made it with the ditch lights.
Here accompanied by two Lionel Hi-Nose GP30's thanks to Mike Reagan. The Southern 2501 is on roster at NCTM and the N&W 522 is an occasional visitor.
Was not realy expecting such a wow factor. I got the vision line pfe reefer set. figured I better get this run as It may be the last. I love them so much I have never taken them off the layout. they add so much play value to my opperating sesions now. now I need another set and more pfe cars to make my pfe train longer.

Mine was my Legacy SD40 in BN paint. Arrived in an unopened shipper at a fantastic price.
Great sound, detail. Looks and runs great with the BN GP35 I already owned.
A Lion Chief+ steamer.
Well... it would be a toss up between these two vintage "enduro" bikes:
My recently acquired 1972 mfg "DKW" GS125. Made in West Germany...
Or my more recent acquisition: A 1971 Zundapp (sort of pronounced "ZUNE dopp") GS125, mfg'd in West Germany in 1971...
Either way, both bikes are very rare here in the USA and hard to find for a "vinduro" (VINtage enDURO) bike enthusiast such as myself. Especially so in the very good condition of the above two.

My best purchase in 2016 was the Lionel Legacy Santa Fe E8's I bought from Nassau Hobbies at the April York meet, great deal. Click below, to see see it run!
With a several years drought of interesting trains, there is money to put cars on the road, and in quick succession l found a 1933, and a 1937 Graham for my Graham dealer lot. Pending are other roadway acquisitions, for a couple of elusive model vehicles long searched for.
