Wired or wireless control of turnouts on a layout via a laptop?

I am interested in duplicating the control functions of my existing hardwired DCS control system using a Windows 8 laptop or Android device. Does the Hikel system offer this?  I could later use the new MTH wireless app which I would use for only engine control on an Android device.  I now have a hardwired "Dispatcher" setup for turnout and block control along with the MTH TIU/AIU and wireless controller.

I would like to have both capabilities available.

I plan to retain my existing hardwired Dispatcher Annunciator panel as a backup display system.

John,

The Hikel brothers are apparently not still associated with MTH

That/s in correct. You're out of the loop entirely.

The layout control system that is sold by Hikel O Gauge has been, and remains, licensed by MTH to use DCS command protocols. That has never changed.

The Hikel system does, indeed, allow PC control of switches and accessories, as well as DCS and TMCC/Legacy locomotives. I had it installed on my layout and it always worked perfectly.

I talked to Ted directly at York, that's the impression I got.  I was specifically asking about the WiFi, and he said they no longer had anything to do with it.  I guess I extended that a bit in my mind, so consider me corrected.

Is the system you have the one that someone here recently was complaining he couldn't get working and also couldn't get any answers from the Hikel folks?  I guess until I know that was resolved, I'd be somewhat reluctant to invest in it.  I see no mention of it at all on the Hikel Trains site.

John,

I don't recall the nature  of the complaint, however, my system worked flawlessly. Also, I know of at least one other who also has the system on a much larger layout than mine who also has absolutely no complaints.

The main reason that I deinstalled mine was that, in the final analysis, I wasn't really keen about using a PC to control the layout.
