Woodland Scenics Mod-U-Rail bases

What scale are you planning to build your layout in? The Woodland Scenics system is primarily designed for smaller scales such as HO, N, and the like.  If you are thinking O scale, than Mianne would be a far better fit.

I wouldn’t waste the money on the module kits but the bases look perfectly suited to the purpose. Just double up 2” pink foam, carve it yourself and it’ll be more than sturdy enough to handle whatever you want to put on it.

I should have been more clear. I was referring to the bases only, not the actual scenery kits. I just don't want to build benchwork myself and I don't want to invest more $$ than I need to in benchwork kits, as long as they're modular and reusable.

I have tried to make the Mianne modular so it can be removed from the basement when moving but no go.  The issue is the legs are not removable from the frame..they are part of the frame.  So you cannot remove legs transport and reattach legs to frame.

That's one of the reasons I think I like Mod-U-Rail more. Although the legs can't be detached without disassembling the whole thing, each module could be carried or transported separately just by removing the connectors.
