i have a 36 oval with another 48 oval. i need to join them. i do have two parking tracks on 36 one connected through 36 and another 72 switches. i also have a Y 72, but no place to fit yet.
i need help/ideas to finalyze the plan. my objective is to have

Basic modification for the loop-to-loop connections using O-36 turnouts:
I prefer left/right and right/left cross-overs for curve-replacement turnouts because it avoids the dreaded "mainline reverse-curve" problem, but it limits you to making the cross-overs in corners.
I came up with this one to add a little opertional interest and to beak up the monotony of simple loops.
I really like this design. It provides a lot of bang for the buck in that amount of space. It's nice having the crossovers on opposite sides.
That is an excellent plan. By having the crossovers on opposite sides it give a lot more operational fexibilty in a plan like this. You can park a train in between xovers and work around it. And you've got switching opportunities.
What kind of trains are you running? Conventional or TMCC. With TMCC it can be a blast to operate. You can work 3 trains at once.

The grid lines on the plan are one foot squares. The original plan I made was 4'6" x 10'. Your change makes it about 4'6"x9'4". Does this help?
