I have an acquaintance who is building a 10 ft x 6 1/2 ft 027 layout for his grandson.  He already has a sturdy table with built in shelves almost finished.  He saw that I had a SCARM trackplan that DoubleDAZ helped me with and asked if I could draw a plan for him.  I told him I am not very good at SCARM, and didn't tell him I really don't understand what a life-long postwar enthusiast would really like.  In my topic in my signature I explained I came from an HO background, where lots of loops around a table wasn't my cup of tea.

I'm asking for some ideas for him.  As I said, he would use 027 track, would like several loops, loopback tracks, his outer loop can be 072 as he has that track.  I told him I would ask for some assistance here.  I don't know why he doesn't want to join and post his own topic.  I don't expect anyone to put a lot of effort into this, but if someone already has a design that could be adjusted to fit his 10 ft x 6 1/2 foot space, I would appreciate it.

One may say I shouldn't bother with him.   I'm not going to tell a guy no, though I don't know him wel.  He has been friendly to me and has shared some information.

Thank you very much!!

Mark,

Like everything , there are more questions. Does he mean Lionel O27 tubular track? You know Ross and GG are O27 profile. What's his inventory of items-switches, crosses, accessories?

What does he have for ideas? make a rectangle and scrawl some lines and post a picture of it?

There's a lot of nice plans in this size range. have you seen what Dan Padova been working on? Post-war '50's theme with lots of accessories.

Think an O72 oval with four switches for crossing in and out and an inner loop with 4 switches and a crossover for a figure 8 and reversing.

Add more switches for sidings.

perhaps he can find one he likes at Thortrains-

Find some direction or have him email me.

Carl,

I knew there would be more questions.  He means Lionel 027, and I forgot to ask what inventory of switches etc he has.  From what I have seen, I think he has just about everything postwar.  Maybe that's why I forgot that.  LOL

I will take a look at Dan's.  I think I recall seeing his a while back.  I will ask him if he has looked at Thor's.  I looked myself at one time, but nothing interested me.

I will see about finding direction, but will suggest he email you.  No sense having a middle man.  Thank you very much!!!!

I don't think I've seen Thor's.
