I have some replacement metal trucks for weaver freight cars with the plastic trucks...and I need 2-56 machine screws about 1 1/4" long. I find lots of 1" at radio shack and other places...but no longer ones. Anyone know of another source? Thanks

I didn't check to see whether they have the specific size you need, but this is my "go to" source for small fasteners:
Thanks for the reply...longest they show is 1". The weaver cars with metal trucks come with longer screws...they must get them from somewhere?
If you have a big Ace Hardware nearby, check out their fastener section. There's a big Ace a few miles from my house where I've found all kinds of unexpected things. Also, hobby shops catering to R/C and other tastes often have unusual small fasteners in their inventory.
Looks like Grainger has what you are trying to find:
mcmaster.com also has them, but may be costly for a couple of screws.
I have found Microfasteners to be a good source, reasonable prices, and reasonable shipping.
EBay is also a decent place to find hardware, if you are interested in buying by the hundred or more.
Thanks, that pololu site shows them...they are hard to find in that length.
Go back and look at that Micro Fasteners catalog, or call Kathy. She just sent me ten of the exact size you are looking for and ten of 1 1/2" length. You want SCA0220.
The big deal with these screws is that they are aircraft grade, 125,000 psi screws, and the socket head makes them lots easier to work with. I use them exclusively for all structural fasteners on my locomotives, and I use the larger ones on aircraft parts in place of (ugh) slotted screws.

I can't believe that anyone still makes slotted screws. When purchasing toggle bolts, they come with slotted screws. Fastenall is another place for hardware.
