This reviewer speaks from ignorance. When the Polar Express movie first came out, it was kind of a sleeper. Ticket sales were slow at first but as time went on, ticket sale kept growing and it was a very successful movie. Even Lionel wasn't sure how well it's sets would sell. They only made a limited number at first but the demand grew to the point where they had to make a second and third run. I can remember Polar Express sets selling on ebay for $800.00 the first year. Now, 20 years later, Lionel is still selling plenty of PE sets. My son has a tradition in his house. After the tree is up, he set up his Polar Express under it, then the family watches the movie.
The Polar Express is already an established viewing (movie) and playing (train around the tree) tradition for my four grandkids (three boys and one girl), ages 3, 5, and 7.
