After a long time running my mth locomotives with a remote commander in passive mode I finally have a WTIU. I have read up on it and I have Barry's book which I have read so I thought I knew how to hook it up but I'm having issues.

When I take my Zw-l power out and put that into the WTIU fixed 1 in and then fixed 1 out to my distribution block and power up the track I get nothing. I hear a click inside the WTIU but the light stays green. No track power and no dcs signal. But if I run power from my zw-l to my distribution block and then hook the WTIU in passive (just wires from the fixed 1 out) no problem it works.

The reason I want to switch is I have two blocks on my layout and I need to use two WTIU outputs to control those and I can't do that in passive mode. Also, my dcs signal is pretty weak in areas so I'm thinking going through the WTIU will help that.

I'm powering the WTIU itself using the included power brick. Without the WTIU the track works fine, runs both conventional and legacy using the zw-l and Base3. As I mentioned in passive mode I can run dcs engines but in many places I have no signal so the engine doesn't respond to commands.

Am I missing something obvious?

When you run in passive mode, you'll need to place a choke between the Transformer output and the track. This will prevent the transformer from trashing the DCS signal.

Makes sense I will look into that but is there something wrong with my WTIU or how I'm setting it up? With the two block sections on my layout I do want to be able to use two outputs the way it is intended.
