So what am I doing wrong my MTH realtrax is pitting on the center rail ?
seems to be only on the side of the rail (see pictures)
any help in this matter is highly appreciated

I would check the cleanliness and tension on the pickup rollers. Pitting is usually caused by sparking.
Those look to be higher current spark erosion marks. I'm not saying they cannot come from a pickup roller, but I would place bets on something MUCH BIGGER- like dragging equipment or a bent pilot- something connected to frame common and thus the wheels and so a DEAD SHORT to center rail if it touches an makes contact.
Again, burn marks that deep and infrequent- sure looks like something either shorting, or some serious current jumping at those points to cause that kind of burning.

I've had that same thing occur on my Buco brass 3 rail tracks, and found it was one of the Kadee metal couplers I had installed, in leu of the usual "drop-link" couplers.
The "uncoupling bar" was touching the center rail coming out of a O 31 curve onto the straight, as the Kadee coupler was being pulled across the middle rail by the car in front of it.
Bottom line......check the uncoupling mechanism on your couplers for the correct center rail height clearance.
