This has to be one of the cooler 3D printed things I've seen, I'm quite impressed that he built a whole system!

If it's a simple continuous loop this is fine.
Automation allows for switching and stopping, too.
Alan, I know that their system is much more exotic. However, after seeing the amount of time that Lee Willis put into the system and finally abandoned it, I don't think I'd be inclined to go with it.

It was a bit of a quandary for me. While it's a 3D project, the end result didn't seem to fit.

True, truthfully I didn't think of 3D, I was focused on the functionality. When I looked, I didn't see any forum that seemed to fit. As Alan says, probably 3D is the best place for it.
In any case, I think it's a pretty cool piece of kit that he developed. 
Crossposting. It made sense for this one. Well beyond a typical 3D print job, but belonged there as well. Also neat for those who would never look at the 3D stuff.
When it comes to 3D printing, I assume you guys know about THIS.
