A fellow Forumite and good friend asked me to design and print Search Light (SL) styled Union Pacific signals for his Lionel 450 Signal Bridges on his layout. The signal head fits a 5mm tri-color LED wired into holes in the back of the post. The signal heads are printed separately for easy wiring then fitted on to the supports.
The signal heads have the laser(light) aiming hole and laser support structure behind the hole.
The completed signal mast will have three signals and a back-side maintenance structure as shown below in the Rhino 7 model displayed. the ladder resembles the size and spacing of the 450 Signal Bridge ladder
Signal lighting says: Approaching Clear 60.
Printing these now. The maintenance structure is printed separately and fastened into place after the signal heads are wired and installed.
Aside from the signal face and cowl which will be painted black, the rest of the signal will be painted silver.
I think this gives new life to the underrated and fairly inexpensive 450 signal bridge.
This design will not work on the MTH signal bridge without modification to avoid the railings.
