we have just got into the legacy world. we have been running tmcc for awhile. we just bought this unit used and the sound is not very loud at all. my old tmcc engines are twice as loud if not more. is this normal or do i need to replace some thing?

Obvious dumb question, is it the whistle/bell or the prime mover sounds that you have volume issue with?
You do know about the AUX1/VOL-UP key sequence, right? Do that a few times and the prime mover will louder if it's turned down. The VOL-UP key alone is the master volume.
Sorry for my lack of information. But it is all of the sounds. Motor, bell, horn and dialog. They are all very quite compared to our other engines. Is there a sound board that is easily replaceable or any other way to trouble shoot this issue?
Assuming (witch we all know is dangerous) there is nothing actually going on I have noticed that some of the first Locomotives with the RS-Lite boards IE 2011-2012 era do seam quieter than the RS 5.5 locomotives. this is just my observation but I am defiantly no expert.
I have a couple of the PRR U28C locomotives from the same production run, I haven't noticed any special issue with sound volume. Obviously, the maximum sound volume varies some based on specific models, it can be a variety of factors that influence that.
