To my eyes, my two late-model steamers have mismatched tenders. I think, authenticity aside perhaps, that the Bachmann ten-wheeler's tender looks too large and the Lionel Consolidation's may be kind of small for their respective engines. I'm entertaining the idea of switching the tenders' innards so the big tender can run with the Reading, and vice versa.
I could handle the repainting, but wonder if you guys see any reason this would not be feasible. There will be an issue with drawbar lengths, and I'm not sure whether to switch the trucks or not - I'd see what develops when they are apart.
Before I delve into $600 worth of engines (I'm no Lee Willis), I'd appreciate some opinions. Thanks in advance.
