Hey guys,

I know it's been awhile since I've posted on here so I'll address that first. I've been busy a lot lately with school and work and haven't really had time for trains. I'm still interested in them, but they're not one of my main priorities anymore like they used to be.

BUT ANYWAY...

About a year ago I purchased some more Lionel tubular track and graduated trestles in preparation for an elevated track on my current layout. I never really got around to adding it to the layout and I soon forgot that I even had the track and trestles.

Well, today I decided to check it out and see if I could actually do an elevated track. I don't believe I have enough clearance between tracks to use the elevated trestles and it's be pushing the height clearance.

Which brings me here. I want to find out if there's any other way to accomplish this task without having to tear a lot of stuff off the layout.

Below is an overhead photo (well... kinda) of my layout. It is 4 feet wide by 12 feet long. I'd like the elevated track to be elevated between the two loops, but if you can come up with something creative feel free to do so. I'm open to all suggestions!

Thanks for the help everyone!

I like the simplicity of your layout.  I tend to get things too complicated, like double reverses and that sort of thing.  I don't even have my rebuild completed, and I'm already planning an elevated loop.  In order to keep it simple and not to interconnect to my basic complicated layout, I'm just planning on an elevated oval loop over the town part of my town and country layout.  I would upload my SCARM plan, but every time I do, all that uploads is the parts list.  It might be interesting to have the elevated portion at varying heights - like at the lowest point 1/2" above basic, and graduating heights up to 5" for crossovers.  Just a few embryonic thoughts.

What's interesting is that when I do a Save As, the first one comes up with a .txt extension, so I had to change it, while the second comes up with the .scarm extension and I didn't need to change it.

Anyway, as far as the design goes, I see what you mean, but smaller layouts always seem to get complicated when one tries to work in 2 reversing loops and some operating action.
