I have the 6-14134 reissue of the post war magnet crane.  This was the one that came out around the year 2000.  I know they've subsequently put out a command control version, but I'd like to find out if I could get LCS components to convert the one I already have to command control.  I've searched the forum but found nothing along these lines.

I think the TMCC Accessory Motor Controller (AMC) can do what you want.  It can control up to 4 motors and you can set it up for things such as gantry crane cab rotates as you rotate CAB Remote Controller knob in whichever direction you are turning.

ERR used to have a Crane Commander around 2005.  I do not know if they still make that.  Your best bet is to email them.  There are sites (non forum sponsors) that perform TMCC installs that still list the Crane Commander, you could search for and contact those places as well.

Gantry Crane Operation
Throttle knob – Controls rotation or hook
DIR (<> Key

Boost Key

Brake Key

 – Latch / Un-Latch Bucket or Magnet
AUX2 Key

Andy,

All my searches for TMCC and crane commander wind up referencing the new Lionel crane with TMCC already built in.

I think the new AMC2 listed under LCS in the 2016 T&P catalog may be able to give me control over the 360 degree motor and the up/down line motor.  I'm not sure if I'd need something else for the on/off for the magnet since you really want a momentary power application not a latching application.

The AMC2 doesn't appear to have hit stores anywhere.  In looking for the manual on the previous iteration, I came up with the original IC Controls AMC and that manual specifically mentions using the AMC for the gantry crane.  But the manual didn't mention the magnet.  Assuming the AMC2 is just an LCS revision of the original, it will have the same ability to control 2 motors and 2 lights.  So could one of the light controls be used for the magnet?  Or would the variable voltage there be an issue?

I have a Electric RR Crane Commander kit, still factory sealed.   Here is a link to the manual: http://www.electricrr.com/Manu...I-Crane-Com-Inst.pdf

I also have 1 of the TAS Traversing Crane kits available as well if anyone is interested (Make a deal!).
