I can't financially handle the items in the newly release catalog!
Have not had time to watch it...
Didn't see a reference to Strasburg 90 (or any other Strasburg items) in the catalog... What did I miss?

What did I miss, Zach? What live stream are you referring to? Streamed by who, when, where, and how is it related to the STRR?
Anyway during the livestream, Ryan Kunkle mentions that they (lionel production team), are working on some fun and neat strasburg items. At that point he mentioned sparringly that he said too much.
Hello,
While the live stream was mentioned on this forum it is also worth mentioning not everyone utilizes facebook. Both Lionel and MTH have acknowledged an interest many have in purchasing preserved or just plain surviving vintage equipment to add to their collections of model trains. This can be seen in the MTH Strasburg wooden passenger cars that were produced a few years ago and the Strasburg railroad starter set
There are more subtle examples of this also. A few MTH catalogs ago the 44 tonner that was previously owned by Strasburg (now at another operation) was selected as the PRR 44-tonner, additionally when it came time to make a LV 112 the road number was picked that belongs to the former LV 112 that resides at the Black River & Western in New Jersey.
In this new Lionel catalog we see a Tidewater tank car that today is restored at Strasburg and one of the PRR X31 road numbers is waiting for restoration at the Black River & Western. Its possible there are other ones I have missed with heritage rails I am not as familiar with.

The same Lionel that just auctioned off all their archives? I don't see them being all that concerned about preserving history...

You do bring up a good point though with the recently sold archives. The Lionel of today is less interested in their roots, this can be seen in the rise of LionChief and the loss of the old post-war and pre-war celebration series trains.
I think I could have worded my statement better. My comment was intended to say that Lionel is seeing an interest in REAL vintage trains that are preserved today. That is to say that Lionel is more likely to announce a new scale model of something that you can find today in a museum somewhere instead of something that can only be found in history books.
How many Post-War trains can they sell with so much of it still being around?
I'll believe it when I see it Zach...
Any idea when in the 45 minute presentation that this statement was made? Curious on the context...
Found it at about the 29 minute mark. Certainly sounds like it is in consideration...
2017 Signature Volume 2 Catalog Review with Lionel's Director of Production Ryan Kunkle!
Strasburg #90 is one of my favorites, but if it is produce in the Vision Line, I'd need to sell off a few things first....

Don't you worry, it will be here before you know it.
I'd jump on #90 in it's original Great Western livery, but this is probably another McKeen car vicious rumor that will never materialize. thanks
