Nope, but I don't think they have even produced an S gauge engine yet, so until a production board is available for S gauge I imagine an upgrade kit won't be available. G
Thanks George for the reply and have a nice weekend and enjoy your trains!

FWIW, since the 3V board works with 2-rail O-gauge, if you can fit it into the tender, you can do your S-gauge upgrade with the standard 3V upgrade kit.
Obviously, since polarity matters to the 3V board, the PS/3 upgrade kits are going to be a much better idea for S-gauge upgrades.
Unless you find some in dealer inventory, the PS-2 3V upgrade kits are a thing of the past. Plus size is similar.
"BUT" For what its worth, I had a customer upgrade a Lionel Challenger with a PS-32 and it fit. So I guess it depends on the SIZE of the S gauge loco tender. G
GGG check your email!
Thanks Alan
As a matter of fact, the prototype PS-3 unit has just become available. My mechanic (Camden) has attempted an install in my #$%X! Flyonel Challenger (which totally went haywire). Unfortunately, there is a problem synchronizing the rotation and the chuffs, so it has been sent back to the distributor to see if there is a fix. Works well otherwise. I'll let you know when this issue is resolved.
The PS2/3 units sync the chuffs by use of the flywheel tach tape. If you have a different gear ratio than the MTH "standard" for your size flywheel, you'll need a custom tach tape to get the proper number of chuffs/rev, this is a fairly common issue.
Thanks John! I will pass that on to Camden. The Challenger was problematic from the outset, thus, the removal of its "central nervous system." I bought it and immediately repainted it as Western Maryland, voiding any warranty in the process!

Stephen, The prototype is now the standard O/G gauge PS-32 Steam Upgrade kit.
S gage boards are suppose to be smaller, but have not surfaced yet. G
GGG you mentioned use a ps2 3 volt board in my American flyer s gauge, the problem thought was old flyer s gauge uses a AC motor and I thought ps2 3 volt only works on DC Motors with a flywheel?
Alan
You can do a DC motor conversion, Frank Timko does them for many locomotives. I have a couple of the Reading 4-8-4 T1 locomotives with the Timko motor conversion.
John how much is the dc motor conversion cost?
Can I purchase the motors or do I have to send the engine to him?
Thanks John been wondering about converting one of my S gauge flyer for a while?
Thanks!
Alan
You'd have to contact Frank Timko to find out what the conversion would cost, I have no idea. I got mine already converted from a guy that was leaving O-gauge modeling.

Alan, Well PS-3 only works on DC motors too. So you asked about the kit. Wasn't sure what year your AF was.
Lionel make DC motor AF, MTH will make DC Motor S gauge. If your looking at an AC AF, not going to work unless you do a conversion and that can be expensive. G
