Here are some progress and finished photos of a box diorama that I built last year. It is dedicated to all those of the "Greatest Generation" who fought for our freedom - in particular my father who served aboard the destroyer escort U.S.S. Fleming in the South Pacific. I thought it appropriate to post since the 70th anniversary of VJ Day just passed.
It is titled "The Homecoming 1945"

Jack what an exceptional tribute to the greatest generation. Absolutely fantastic workmanship!!!! Reminds me of how my Dad waited for my Mom to return from the Navy Dept in Washington DC as he actually returned home before she did. after serving from N Africa as a Tank Destroyer then transferred to 34th Division with invasions of Sicily and Anzio and the taking of Monte Casino and Rome. Thanks for stirring up a great moment in my family history.
The figures in the foreground are 120mm (1/16th scale). You can't see it in the photos but there are 75mm (1/24th) and 54mm (1/32nd) scale figures in the building and 1/48 scale figures in the passenger car. The Hudson loco is G scale and the passenger car is O.

I know that it's nitpicky, but I had to point out that the soldier sitting on the bench is wearing a post-1950s uniform (from the green color). Enlisted men in WW2 wore a different color wool uniform:

Can I assume you had a gutted shell for the Hudson? I can't imagine that you started with a new out of the box running one and chopped it up for a diorama...
The Hudson was a gift from a friend - did not run but it was complete. Sliced it diagonally in the middle with a bandsaw. You might be surprised at what I would do for a diorama...
