If true, I did notice on that release that Atlas will offer 2-Rail analog DC versions of the locomotives, which is ok by me as that will be a better starting base than ripping out the DCS to install Loksound. Not as easy as Loksound 5 equipped, but better than having to rip out all the DCS stuff. It would be nice if atlas has a motherboard in these locos that will accept the Loksound 5 L directly.
Thanks for pointing that out to me, Mike. I had completely overlooked the analog DC version offered.
I had watched Eric's Trains' hour-long INTERVIEW WITH ATLAS' MATT & ROSS video where they all but said that Atlas O 2-rail would be using DCS and not Loksound. When I saw DCS in the new Atlas offering, I read no further. lol
Yes, analog DC is good news. $200 lower list price, too. The C424s don't go with my layout, but I look forward to future Atlas 2-rail offerings.
I'm going to install a Loksound decoder into an old, 1999-release Atlas 2-rail SW9 I'm buying from eBay. A couple people on the internet have used the smaller 1.5 motor amp Loksound 5 DCC decoder in these single-motor engines, and not the L. Along with a bigger Tang Bang speaker. Its my first O scale DCC conversion, so ... I'll see.
