Atlas O announces additional formerly MTH Premier items plus a new Auto Rack

Looks like the auto carriers will maybe be close to prototypical ride height?  That's encouraging.  Their articulated carriers were not conducive to lowering in 2-rail.

Also, that sd40-2 tooling would not work in 2-rail. 

I am wondering about the autoracks. The new ones look great. But I am wondering when Atlas will finally be getting around to releasing the latest run of the articulated racks. Seems to me these were offered in 2019. I believe these were supposed to be out first quarter of 2020. Just wondering how Atlas will get out previous MTH product when they seem to have trouble getting their "Atlas O" product out in a timely manner.

That's a contributing reason why they decided to buy the tooling - they are moving their existng tooling to MTH's production facility... I know the GP's are coming with TMCC frm the existing Atlas facility but I don't know about the rest of the previous Atlas announcements.... exciting time....

I want the BNSF and NS autoracks.  My credit card is not going to like me lol.

Any 3/2 style engines in this bunch? Is Atlas going to continue or further that setup?
I like the fixed pilot and being able to swap wheel set to 3 rail.

No custom runs - they're already contracted - next time

Shawn....he only way that Atlas is going to expand 2 rail offerings, is if they hear from 2 rail modelers.  Ive said id like to see more 2 rail...but im just one person, and one of the few ppl offering 2 rail anymore...

Not announced at this time.... I think they need to get experience batting singles before they do a lot of new stuff for them.......

Well, my billfold is safe this time. Until Atlas offers any of this new stuff in 2rail, I am buying nothing. I have all the 2 rail Atlas I need. Hope they do offer the old MTH items in 2 rail , someday. If I live that long!

FWIW...I having some of our special run MTH hopper cars (NYO&W, and Clinchfield), and drop bottom gondolas (MEC and C&EI) done in 2 rail.    Its more a logistics problem with MTH than anything else. If they have the trucks available, they dont mind doing 2 rail.  Also had our previously released MTH Premier 64' wood coaches done in 2 rail.   And the new 89' auto racks will be avbl in 2 rail.  So 2 rail isnt dead...just have to work a little harder to get it made...

Jeff - the new auto racks are offered in 2 rail - they are not from MTH tooling...

Any thoughts on whose autoracks will be better? Lionel or Atlas. I am in no way a Lionel fan, but I think Lionel's scale autoracks will be hard to beat.

Well, I sent the dealer I frequent a note when these were announced in HO that I'd like to see them in O - guess I'd better put in an order! And, while not inexpensive, they're not as steep as I'd feared.

I have 8 Lionel auto racks that I converted to 2-rail and they are nice, if not a little bit light. But, my money says the Atlas Master auto racks will be nicer. I'm sure the 2-rail models will have coupler cut bars.

We do need SAL’s in Silver Star & General E. Lee. Maybe someday?

At least the Orange Blossom Special box car is being offered as a custom run.

My little 2R shortline does not see any autorail  traffic. Those little 44 tonners  would fit right in though, as well as most of the other items.

I wonder if the Atlas autoracks will have see through side screens. I have Lionel racks and I think they have the see through screens (I would have to dig under the table to find one and open it to verify) Atlas website states highly detailed side screens. I guess time will tell if that means see through.

I recently sold 3 of the 4 remaining Lionel scale Autoracks I have in the fleet.   Oh man now I see I will be placing an order for the Atlas-O ones.   I wonder if they will be heavier than the Lionel ones.     And i thought I was done with placing orders......   VBG

Most boring train around...autoracks...IMHO.

I expect that the auto racks will have see thru side screens.

Exciting new products.  Very nice!  Questions:  Is it safe to assume Atlas will make some slight improvements in design/added features since their prices are higher than MTH?  Also, what are the minimum radii for the engines and cars?  I'm fairly new to Atlas other than my collection of their awesome wood side reefers and a few other cars.

SD-40's have die cast bodies according to Atlas website. Wow! think its a misprint?

No, every locomotive produced will have DCS PS3.0 since Atlas acquired the license from MTH.

The 44 Tonners will have diecast bodies. The SD40-2's will have the usual ABS plastic shells.

At this point im expecting all the former MTH that atlas produces, will be the same as it was when last produced by MTH,

I just got word that the auto racks will be scale proportion unlike the MTH versions were.

Yes.  they re full o scale and super detailed.  It is all new Atlas Master tooling, nothing to do with the old MTH "semi-scale" auto racks.

Those auto racks look 100% awesome. I am confident Atlas O will hit these out of the park. Atlas O is hands down superior in quality and detail to Lionel.

The CP SOO line is a definite for me along with possibly the BNSF and NS

I think this is great news, but will the SD40s have the 3/2 truck blocks?
