Will an Atlas speaker work with PS3..refitting an atlas engine with PS3

I wouldn't reuse it. You should be able to find an oval speaker. I did an atlas dash 8 last year and the speaker size atlas uses is somewhat standard. 

I used this speaker in my dash 8. 

If the MTH speaker was 4 ohms and you use the 8 ohm, the volume won't be as loud. It would not hurt to use a higher ohm speaker, just not lower.

  thanks for the tip boilermaker..my novice line of thinking is the higher impedence atlas speaker would be less demanding on the PS3 but sound might be reduced. oops sorry joe..didnt see your post.

Joe is correct that the speaker could work, albeit with reduced volume.

However, the MTH speaker can handle 4 watts while the Atlas speaker can only handle 1 watt. There's a chance that the Atlas speaker could not handle the power coming from the PS3 board's audo amplifier if the volume were turned up high, as it might be when trying to get louder sounds out of the higher ohm-value Atlas speaker.

digikey has oval speakers, I converted some atlas engine and was able to get the correct speakers there.  use the chat option on the website and email a picture, they are very good

Willy, I have MTH 4 ohm speakers that are smaller dia that will fit the Atlas tank.  Still round, but 45mm.  I have to use these for upgrades that have different sized tanks.

I have added Boilermaker's suggested speakers to many of My Atla sO dummy units. the speakers were to replace the puny round ones that came with the MRc ac sounder units. these oval speakers work great and have a nice OEM fit to the speaker opening in the fuel tank.

Now keep in mind not ALL Atlas O diesels use the Oval speaker... Only the Sd35/gp35/sd40/c424/c630/c628/b40-8/gp60's

Others use the standard round 50mm [2"] speakers.. GP/F3's, C liners & sw9 etc.
