Need some help. I'm trying to attach my crossing gate and gateman to my tubular O gauge track using fiber pins and attaching a lock-on to the track. No luck. As soon as I put the power on, the gate goes down without a car or engine on the track. What am I doing wrong. I've seen it work with tubular track. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Keep in mind that it is not enough to put insulating pins in the end of the outside rail trigger track. You must pry up the rail and insert insulation Between the rail and the tie, just like the center rail. Use thin card stock such as index cards or a manilla folder.
I had the feeling that your response was what I would have to do. The couple of places I saw this work did not mention blocking at each tie. Thanks for the response.
It is a little bit of work but it is most reliable way to trigger trackside accessories like the gateman and crossing gates. You can use it for signals as well.
If you can solder, I find this is the "cleanest" way to attach wires to insulated track pieces to activate accessories like the Gateman. Just one wire soldered to the insulated side of the track. I have a lot of these set up and it eliminates having all those lock-ons everywhere.
Just my preference.
