Totally improved engine. Detail is way up and the engine sound is nice considering the price. BUT you can't hear it when it's pulling a train. I found one pot inside but it didn't change the volume level. So I reset it and it's former position.

Just curious if you think the limitation on volume is the speaker in any way: that's usually quick and simple to fix . . .
I don't think it's the speaker. Sound is clear. Horn is loud enough. A review of this engine reported the same low volume condition. BUT I have waited a long time for them to include an engine sound so I had to try one for myself. I will say again they really bumped up the detail level...Jim
Gonna stick my neck out here. I asked Larry Harrington this question at York as he demonstrated that engine for me. I though he said to turn it up (as you have) and then to put a good size hauling load behind the train. So as it draws more power to pull the stuff, and goes faster, the engine's sound will change. I think that is what he told me.
