After a move and over a year without operating most of my trains, I am in the process of building a new layout. One of my big concerns is the long layoff period and the effect on the batteries in my PS-1 and PS-2 locomotives. I have tried one recharge which wasn't successful and I replaced the battery with a BCR.
With this long a period with no recharge, can some of these batteries be successfully recharged or do they all likely need to be replaced? If they can be recharged, what is the quickest/best way to do this? Are there good rechargers for the 8.4v battery?
I am just starting to learn about PS-3. If/when an upgrade kit is available for various locomotives, would this be a future solution to the battery recharge problem?
Thanks for any information.
Roger
